Day 1
WOW! I'll say it backwards ... WOW! What an awesome day. A few tears at the airport as we said goodbye to family and friends but they were quickly dried and hugged away with friends. Focus on the task at hand took over our thoughts. A few little issues as we passed through hand luggage checkpoint. Makes you appreciate our airport security. We have all had a little sleep but probably not enough. The flight had a few bumps getting through the weather in Perth but then it was nearly perfectly smooth until we hit land again. The moon changed size, shape and colour through the trip. We left in the dark and arrived in the dark. When we got off the plane we were quickly through the airport and onto a lovely bus ride to the hotel. Brunei is a lovely place. So green and lush. At this moment it is bucketing rain! Wish we could send some home to our thirsty land. Next we were issued our rooms with a fantastic bed and given a few hours to sleep. Lunchtime came too quickly. We have been to a wonderful lunch at Jolly Bee! The chicken curry and rice was excellent and the others reported that their meals were also. One of the staff members asked to take photos of us all. Barney Bear got into a few photos. He's a real jet setter and socialite. Don't forget to watch out for him in our daily blog. Everyone is well and a little eager to get to Manila. Mr B has very wisely (I think) given us an early night here in Brunei so that we can be refreshed for the work ahead of us. We've been through some of the expectations on us and also some of what we will be expecting to see and do. Sounds awesome and also a little bit hard, both physically and emotionally. Pastor Pete has given us a journal to record our thoughts and experiences in. A great memory jolting tool in the future. I think we're going to have the time of our lives! We're off to Jolly bee again tonight. Most of us have already checked out what everyone else had for lunch and then decided on our evening meal. (Should have brought elastic waist band clothing :/) Catch you all later Mrs Scrivener
