Hi All,
Another early rise of seven o'clock this morning, most of us struggling to get out of bed... again. A delicious breakfast of porridge, eggs and fruits to fill us up for another day of full rotations - although i don't think many of us went for the porridge, except Jade! Our group started with construction where we were to mix cement for the pad that we were to lay, which was very difficult i might add. Three bags of 25kg cement, with a mass amount of sand, blue metal and water to add whilst also having to mix it manually. After much mixing and being spluttered in much cement we had to go back to Ministry Center for a break and to begin our next rotation.
As today is Thanksgiving, the school next to the Ministry Center put on a play for the rest of the community. There was a lot of singing, dancing and of course praising God. It was a very amazing experience to watch all of the kids get up in front of quite a big crowd to sing and dance. After the play the school put on a huge lunch for the kids of the school, it included chicken, rice, noodles, spring rolls, and fruit in massive amounts. We help dish out all the food even though there was massive amounts there was not enough for the all the children, which put sad expressions on the childrens faces, and also broke our hearts.
Lunch time now =), Traditional Filipino Chicken dish with rice, it was really yummy. After an hours break we were off third rotations the childrens home, because it was the afternoon most of the children were asleep until the second half of the session, in the time when the children were asleep we helped clean the windows and the frames, while Bree disappeared. Bree - While everyone was cleaning, i tiptoed into the Nursery to see the two babies, Cedric and Colleen. Colleen was asleep although Cedric was awake. Cedric is a pre-mature baby and its amazing the difference between the two babies according to their size. After talking to the lady whose works in the Nursery, i was allowed to hold Cedric, he was nice and quiet - fast asleep - in her arms but as soon as i held him he begun to cry. After about five minutes, i gave him back unable to quieten him down. We were soon able to play with the children and most of us, besides Bree, played basketball. I must say those children are brilliant at shooting hoops.
Instead of doing our last rotation, we were treated to a college basketball game, we went and watched Kirk Long's team play as he is the son of the director of the Ministry Center. But we only got to see him play for 7 minutes because today we learn't about Filipino Time, were a trip that was take an hour ended up taking 3 and a half, it probably didn't help that Mr. Beacham was driving and got us lost. We ended up driving down the same street six times and Mr. B's excuse for that we were taking a scenic drive... yeah right!
So after the game finished and we finally got back to the Ministry Center without getting lost we had dinner, we were starving so we practically swallowed our food whole. Dinner included Sheppard's Pie, Bread, and a delicious salad. After dinner we did our night activities, which included taking a trike to a shop and buying lots of junk food including ice-cream and chocolate. We arrived back at the Ministry Center and got straight into our ice-cream making most of us feel really ill =|.
Hopefully an early night tonight as we have a five am start tomorrow morning, but somehow I doubt that will happen as its already 10 and most of us still have showers to have and journaling to finish.
Anyway thats it for us tonight
Goodnight
Love Bree and Jade
